Boise, Idaho’s capitol, offers a charming downtown, a nearby college campus, beautiful rolling mountains, and it’s just an hour or so away from many fun destinations. Meridian is a few miles from Boise and provides a variety of stores and restaurants in an outdoor shopping center as well as fun attractions such as Wahooz and Linder Farms! Boise’s central location provides nearby beautiful views at popular locations including Sun Valley, McCall, and Yellowstone National Park.

Idaho dates back to 1890 when it became the 43rd state, but many don’t know that Boise was actually named after the French word Boise that means “wooded” based on the amount of trees in the area! Similarly, Boise is also known as the City of Trees!

IDAHO SHAKESPEARE FESTIVAL

As you enter our outdoor amphitheater and habitat reserve, you’ll be embarking upon a theatrical experience like no other! In addition to all the magic, drama and passion of professional theater, and a 770-seat, state-of-the-art facility that was built to feature the human voice, the Festival Amphitheater & Reserve is nestled in a unique habitat that is home to an astonishing variety of plant and animal species.

BOISE GREENBELT

The 25-mile Boise River Greenbelt is one of Boise’s most beloved parks. The tree-lined pathway follows the river through the heart of the city and provides scenic views, wildlife habitat and pedestrian access to many of the city’s popular riverside parks. The Greenbelt also serves as an alternative transportation route for commuters.

BOISE ART MUSEUM

The mission of the Boise Art Museum is to create visual arts experiences that engage people and inspire learning through exceptional exhibitions, collections, and educational opportunities. Our vision is to be a vital partner in the educational, creative, and cultural life of our communities as an innovative leader in local, regional, and national visual arts.

Schick-Ostolasa Farmstead

The preserved Farmstead site covers 2 acres along Dry Creek, with seven historic farm buildings: the Farmhouse, a Detached Red Cookhouse and Spring House (called the Red House), Root Cellar, Woodshed, Saddle Shed, Granary, and a Horse Barn. The historic site was listed in the National Register of Historic Places in 2006 for its regional significance as an outstanding example of early homesteading in Idaho, and 19th & 20th century agriculture in the West.

Boise Contemporary Theater inspires our community to examine our perspectives and better understand ourselves, each other, and the world around us by creating thought-provoking stories of the human experience. We will be the place people choose for transformational experiences, and recognized as an irreplaceable driver of the arts and culture in Boise and beyond.

IDAHO CITY

Just a short trip outside of Boise, visitors find themselves in a character town of the wild west. Idaho City features hot springs, museums, gorgeous outdoors, and beautiful hiking. Enjoy panning for gold, the rodeo, and a charming small town with all that Idaho City has to offer!

BOGUS BASIN

Bogus Basin is so much more than a ski area – it’s a year-round destination for recreation and education. Countless kids have made their first-ever turns at Bogus Basin. Whether it’s with their families, friends, or through one of the many affordable school outreach programs, Bogus Basin exists to serve everyone – from age 2 to 102.

IDAHO DANCE THEATER

Idaho Dance Theatre creates, performs, and teaches dance so that Idaho communities can experience dance. To realize this mission, Idaho Dance Theatre strives to provide outreach and educational programs to impact the cultural landscape of the community.

BASQUE CENTER

The Boise Basque Center is a gathering place for the Basque communities in the area. We help maintain our heritage by supporting Basque dancing, events and gatherings.

BOISE FOOTHILLS (RIDGE TO RIVERS)

The Boise foothills and many of their trail systems are created and maintained by Ridge to Rivers, which employs one of the few full-time trail crews in the country.
